Factory Owners Are Urged to Eliminate Industrial Hazards

In a card sent to every one of the fifteen hundred grain elevator, flour mill, and canning factory owners in Indiana, the State Fire Marshal says: “You are citizens and patriots and are serving your country in production. The conservation of food and property is the greatest need of the times. Close attention to details in the daily routine of operation in matters of Fire Prevention will reduce the fire hazard.” Factory owners are urged also to make regular and careful inspections of all private fire-fighting equipment, including chemical extinguishers, standpipe and hose equipment, water supply, etc., and to note and correct all fire-breeding conditions, such as rubbish, oily waste and debris in elevator shafts, spaces under stairways, under benches and in dark comers. He says: “This is no time to procrastinate. Attend to these matters today. Now!”
