Faulty Radios Stressful for Firefighters

A recent report from the Connecticut Post indicates that an aging substandard radio communication system has a 50% rate of failure and is endangering the lives of firefighters in Shelton, Connecticut, and the residents they are trying to protect. The thought of radio failures stay in the minds of these firefighters after they leave the station to respond to a call.

Worries have prompted the city to apply for a $1 million in federal grant money to purchase new equipment. The mayor disputes the claim that radios fail at the reported rate even though it is documented in the grant application, according to the report.

The report quotes the mayor to say, “That’s bull—-,” in response to the claim.
