FILERATION

Residents of Macon, Mo., are soon to vote on a proposition for a bond issue to install a filtration plant.

The City Commissioners of Cheyenne, Wyo., recently awarded a contract for a filtration plant at Round Top reservoir to the Pittsburgh Filter Manufacturing Company. The filter is to be of the rapid sand type. In speaking before the Commisssioners, C. A. Smith, of Burns & MacDonough, Consulting Engineers, of Kansas City, is quoted as saying: “The proposed plant itself is one of exceptional merits, and while it will not be as large as some plants now in use in various cities, nevertheless I believe it will compare favorably with any filter plant in the country. One of the chief features of this plant will be the low cost of maintenance. Less than one hour’s work per day. will be all that will be required to keep it in good condition, and this work can easily be done by the present caretaker so that no additional expense from this feature of the plant will be required.”
