Fire and Water Improvements at Hornell.
The vote for a new fire station and waterworks improvements at Hornell, N. Y., resulted in favor of the projects. The proposition to issue $100,000 in bonds for the extension and improvement of the water system was carried by a vote of 420 in favor and 66 against. The proposition to issue $36,000 in bonds for a new central fire station was carried by a vote of 369 for and 115 against. It is not likely that any steps towards building the fire station will be taken until soring. The contract for its construction will be let by competition and bids will soon be called for. The city has already purchased the site and this will be paid for out of the bond issue approved by the taxpayers. The plans for the construction of the new storage reservoir and pipe line for the waterworks have been made and the work will start next spring.
