FIRE AND WATER INGINEERING

Mayor John Purroy Mitchel, of New York, has named a committee of seven to Consider what plan would be best to relieve property owners of the multiplicity of building inspections by city and state departments and bureaus. Allan Robinson, president of the Allied Real Estate Interests, has been appointed chairman by the mayor and in writing to him the mayor said: “There are two distinct opinions as to the best remedy for the situation, and I believe that such a committee would serve a very useful purpose if it could bring together for full discussion the representatives of all those on both sides of the question. It is, of course, important and desirable that the committee should meet promptly, and that a conclusion should be reached as early as possible.”
