Fire Chief Receives Call to General Staff in Washington
Fire Chief Ray D. Wells, of the Falmouth, Mass., Fire Department, has been called into service with the Army General Staff at Washington. He holds the rank of major in the reserve corps. If Chief Wells passes his physical examination, which is required by the army, he will be replaced as Chief by action of the Board of Selectmen. His successor will he appointed on a temporary basis. Chief Wells will head the department on his return.
The Chief became the head of the fire department twenty-two years ago.
Chief Wells’ army work has been chiefly in training in mobilization. It is most likely he will be used in a similar capacity if accepted for service.
