FIRE DEPARTMENT IMPROVEMENTS AT TROY.
The committee on Public Safety at Troy, N. Y., has reported favorably on the recommendation of Mayor Hogan for extensive improvements in the Troy fire department, and the resolution was unanimously adopted. This recommendation provides in brief for a new hook and ladder truck, a new water tower, a thirty-gallon chemical tank for each hose wagon, fourteen additional hosemen and two additional laddermen, repairs to several steamers in the department, a combination hose and chemical wagon and a new building for hose company No. 9, a combination hose and chemical wagon for Upper Troy, three horses for five of the steamers, a union of the fire alarm systems of old Troy and Upper Troy, repairs and new boxes for the fire alarm system and a code of building laws, with an official to whom all plans for buildings shall be submitted. The estimated cost of these improvements is $100,000.
