Fire Department Reorganized
A general reorganization of the fire department of Manchester, N. H., went into effect November 15, by which a new permanent company was formed, one company disbanded and its personnel transferred to other companies, more than sixty officers and men given different berths or ratings and some of the veterans in the service retired. The board of fire commissioners believes that the efficiency of the department will he improved rather than decreased by the change, although the number of companies is reduced. Charles H. French remains chief. Hose Company No. 1 which was disbanded, was the oldest in the department. Squad A will henceforth be known as Hose Co. No. 1.
