Fire in a Paint Store.
An early morning fire broke out in the paint room of the Pease Hardware company in the Casey 4-story brick block on Main street, Lee, Mass. It was preceded by a series of light explosions from bursting paint cans, but was not actually discovered till heavy black smoke was seen issuing from every window and the roof. At first it was thought that the building could not be saved, as the flames, fed by the barrels of oil and turpentine in the rrom where the fire started, had gained too great headway to be got under control and had burned through to the second story. The fire department, however, under Chief T. H. Hayden, did very good work and in half an hour had the fire more than under control.
