Fire Notes From Elyria.
Elyria, Ohio, a city of 16,000 inhabitants has just added five paid firemen to its central fire station, Where there now are eight paid firemen, one engineer of steamer, one assistant engineer, chief and assistant chief. In this station the equipment is as follows: Aerial truck; combination chemical and hose wagon; No. 2 steamer. A new team has just been added to this station, making two in use.—’Council has authorised the erection of two substations one on the east, the other on the west side of the city. These are to be modern up-to-date houses, and at present will have two regular paid men, one team and one combination chemical and hose wagon in each house. Each station will have a volunteer company of eight minute men, most of whom will sleep at house at nights. W. N. Bates is chief of the department.
