Fire Service Efficiency

At the forty-fifth annual convention of the International Association of Fire Engineers held at Chicago, June 4 to 6, a resolution was adopted to urge the national government to give fire apparatus a place near the head of priority list governing shipping of materials over transportation lines. This is an acknowledgment of the urgency of maintaining fire apparatus up to the very highest point of efficiency during the war. It is believed that as the government has recognized in many ways the essential features of fire department necessities that it will accede to the request of the fire chiefs of the country. If this is done the departments will be able to obtain necessary repair parts of apparatus and lessen the danger of having equipment “out of commission” when it is most necessary.
