A Lynn (AL) Fire and Rescue member died after getting into a vehicle wreck with his teenage son, and there were several near-misses around the nation, including an instance where a firefighter fell down an elevator shaft at a Chicago fire. Five people were killed in a helicopter crash in Tennessee, and two were killed in an accident involving an Amtrak train outside Philadelphia.
