Fireman Receives the Carnegie Hero Fund.

Fireman Thomas Conroy, driver of truck No. I, and for ten years a member of the paid fire department of Niagara, N. Y., and Desk Sergeant J. H. Bates, of the police force of that city, have each received a check for $1,000 from the Carnegie hero fund commission as a reward for saving the life of Amos Schweitzer, of Toronto, from death in the Niagara river, above the Falls, on the night of June 4, 1906. The rescue was effected under most difficult conditions and at grreat personal risk on the part of the rescuers.
