Fireman Wins $40,000 Award

The United States Court of Appeals affirmed a jury’s award of $40,000 to a former District of Columbia fireman who was knocked from a fire truck when the fire station door closed too quickly.

The award came in February to Paul T. Romer, Oxon Hill, Md., from the company which installed the door. It was disclosed that in the accident, which happened four years ago, the automatic timer failed to function properly and the door struck Romer, who was acting as tiller-man of Ladder Co. 16.
