Firemen Build Fires To Fight General Alarm Blaze
The Jacobus, Pa., Fire Department literally had to “fight fire with fire” on February 9th. Volunteer members responding to a general alarm found hydrants frozen in the eight degree temperature.
The firemen built fires alongside the hydrants to melt the ice in order to obtain water. Before the flames were brought under control five adjoining frame structures, including the post office and a bottled gas firm, were destroyed.
