Firemen Killed at Akron, O.

Two firemen were killed, three seriously injured and two trucks were partially demolished at Akron, O., December 5, when a heavy automobile aerial truck crashed into a horse drawn truck on Buchtel avenue while responding to an alarm at the International Harvester Company plant. All the street lights went out a moment before the crash. The driver of the aerial truck was unable to see the other piece of heavy apparatus and crashed into it. Lieut. Fred Smith was dead when picked up. Fireman Thomas Harris died in the hospital 30 minutes later. The injured are Capt. John Cummins, No. company, shoulder dislocated and side injured: George Fink, scalp cut; Edwin Schwerdtfeger, leg broken.
