FIREMEN PROMOTED
New Britain, Conn.—Lieutenant Edward J. Woods and bred Linn, both of Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1, were promoted to be captain and lieutenant, respectively, at a meeting of the board of fire commissioners. Captain Woods has been a member of the Hook and Ladder Co. for nearly 14 years, beginning as a hoseman. His appointment is a popular one among his fellow firemen, and it fills the vacancy caused by the appointment of Eugene Barnes to assistant chief.
Lieutenant Linn has been a member of the fire department for four years.
Contracts were awarded for the painting of fire houses No. 3 and 5, and for repairs to the brick work at No. 5.
