FIREMEN RECEIVE $11,000 FOR PENSION FUND

Peoria, Ill.—Through the instrumentality of Dan Pearce, former city treasurer, $11,000 was turned into the Firemen’s pension fund from receipts of the 1920 tax collection.

This money was due the pension fund from money paid into the city treasurer by Peoria insurance companies during 1920. It was not paid into the firemen’s pension fund but has been kept in the city treasurer’s possession since last September. A tax warrant being given the firemen for that amount. At the time the warrant was ordered issued it was stipulated that the amount was to be paid in actual cash from the tax receipts of 1920.

Money from this source was being used as rapidly as it came in but through stinting a bit here and there Pearce managed to accumulate the amount in bulk and paid it over to its rightful owners.
