Firemen’s Pension Upheld

Firemen’s Pension Upheld

Post session of the Arkansas Legislature enacted a law whereby a tax, not to exceed one and one half mills, may be voted by communities to apply on pension funds.

The five-eighths millage for firemen was contested by an injunction and the court ruled in favor of the department. It was held that the present conditions could not be compared with the past, and that firemen and policemen should have the right to look forward to a suitable pension, after giving the best years of their life to public service.
