FIREMEN’S RELIEF ASSOCIATION,BROCKTON, MASS.

The reports of the secretary and treasurer of the Firemen’s Relief Association, of Brockton, Mass., read at the recent annual convention show that there are seventy-three members of the association; all the members of the department being enrolled therein. With a balance of $1,530.76 in the treasury from 1895 added to $1,211.83 received during 1896,the total on the credit side was $2,745,59. The expenditures were $2,695.58; the balance being $47.01 in the treasury. During the year the association had expended more than in any previous year; the number of cases relieved being twenty one,of which only four were for injuries. The total expenditure amounted to $919.9t, of which $198.34 was for funeral expenses. Two members died, the first since the association was organised. The secretary recommended that $25 be appropriated to be paid immediately to the family of any deceased member. The following are the members of the association President, Harry L. Marston; vice president, Fred H.Moore; secretary, Harry G. Winston; treasurer, Fred Leighton; board of directors, one from each company; auditing committee, C.L. McCann, J.H. Thompson. andJ.W. Totman; relief committee,W. F. Daley, S. H. Huggon, and J. W. Long.
