FIRES IN MARCH.

During the past March there were 228 fires of a greater destructiveness, each, than $10,000. They may be classified as follows: $10,000 to $20,000. eighty-eight; $20,000 to $30,000. thirty-five; $30,000 to $50,000, thirty-six; $50,000, to $75,000, thirty five; $75,000 to $100,000, thirteen; $100,000 to $200,000. twelve; $200,000 to $750,000, nine; total, 228. The principal fires were as under: Hoboken, N. J., piers and steamers, $750,000; Zanesville, Ohio, pottery works, and Poplar Bluff, Mo., box and stave factory, each, $300,000; New York city, piano factory, $275,000; Guthrie, Okla. Ter., various, and Plainfield, N. J., dry goods store, each $250,000; Philadelphia, Pa., Bryn Mawr college building. $225,000; Hudson. N. Y., dry goods store add other, $200,000.
