The following is the report made by Chief Olaf Johnson, of the fire department of Superior, Wis., during 1908. The population of the city is 45,000. During the year the total number of fire alarms was 236, of which 14 were false. Number of fires in brick or stone buildings, 20; in wooden buildings, 159; other than buildings, 43—total, 222. Number of fires confined to building or place of origin, 221; extending to immediately adjoining buildings, 1—total, 222. Number of fires confined to floor on which they originated, 214. To tal value of buildings involved in fires, $882,810; of contents, $127,545—total. $1,010,355. Total insurance on buildings, $485,450; contents, $77,600 —total. $563,050. Total insurance loss on buildings. $26,439.16: on contents, $10,776.39—total, $37,215.55. Total loss (insured and uninsured) on buildings, $32,044.54; on contents, $1 a.589.23 —total, $47,633.77.
