Firestone Annual Picnic

H. S. Firestone and other officials of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company contributed to the happiness of thousands of employes of the big Akron plant at a picnic held Saturday, July 5. It was the annual worker’s outing with something on the program from early morning until late at night. Silver Lake, a near-by amusement park was the scene of activities. The Firestone Company paid the expenses of the entire party and all amusements were tree. 1 he program included music, dancing, baseball, bathing and other forms of outdoor entertainment. Mr. Firestone recently tendered his factory superintendents and foremen a dinner at the old Firestone homestead, and is a staunch advocate of affairs that bring the employer in close touch and harmony with his employes. “This annual workers’ outing is one of the most enjoyable affairs of the season,” said Mr. Firestone. “The employes deserve this recognition for their faithful application to duty during the year, and the picnic also serves the purpose of bringing them together on friendly and intimate terms.”
