Five Racine Firemen Receive Degree in Fire Technology

Five members of the Racine, Wis., Fire Department received associate in applied science degrees in fire technology on June 9. The five men, Ronald W. Chiapete, George A. Lambert, Ponald E. Bentz, Andrew W. Neumann and Robert E. Schliesmann, were in the first graduating class of the certified program at the Racine Technical Institute that began with evening classes during the second semester of 1965-1966.

Since 1970, the institute has had a full-time program for fire fighters during off-duty hours and a part-time program for those attending evening classes. Twenty-eight fire fighters from Racine are presently attending the course on a full-time basis out of a total complement of 169 from Racine and the surrounding area.
