Myakka (FL) firefighters and members of the Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society (F.O.O.L.S.) honored a local man who rescued a boy from a vehicle fire earlier this year. Fire Engineering contributor and board member Leigh Hollins, pictured at right in the photo above, was on hand.
The Bradenton Herald reported on the case of Levi Teuton, who was headed home Easter morning with his family when he noticed flames from a burning pickup truck. Teuton pulled the teenage passenger from the vehicle just as propane tanks exploded. Teuton and the teenage victim were both burned, and the vehicle’s driver was killed.
Firefighters and commissioners presented life-saving certificates to Teuton, and he was named honorary firefighter by both the fire department and the F.O.O.L.S., the report said.
