Flint Water Statistics
Superintendent Fred N. Baldwin, of the Flint, Mich., Water Works, states that the Water Department requires the laying of 30 miles of mains, additional to the 15 or 18 miles to be laid this year, in order to keep up with the city’s growth. According to his estimates there are at present 75 miles of mains in that city and 8,700 consumers. The capacity of the filter beds and reservoirs at Flint’s municipal water works plant is 8,000.000 gallons. The plant is pumping at present an average of more than 5,000,000 gallon ; of water per day and frequently the consumption of water runs over 7,000,000 gallons every 24 hours. Tn April over 200 consumers were added to the list of water takers. In January, February and March of the present vear between 55 and 60 service line connections were made for new customers. Based on figures of business done thus far this year there will be an increase of 20 to 30 per cent, in business this year as compared to that of 1915, according to his statements.
