Freehold to Have New Fire Alarm System
A new Loper fire alarm system is to be installed at Freehold, N. J. An eight-inch fire alarm whistle is to be placed on a mill building and several street boxes and the master box at the Municipal Building are to be connected with it. Under the present contract there are to be four street boxes with an additional alarm box at the mill at which the whistle is situated. Alarms may be sent direct from any box by simply opening the door and pulling the lever, which will sound the number of blasts on the fire whistle, four times repeated, corresponding to the number of the street box. At the same time a gong will strike the same number of taps at the fire house and record the number on a register tape. The town has been divided into four districts and the alarms will sound corresponding to districts.
