G. A. Wood, Chief of Niagara Falls
Acting Chief George A. Wood has been named head of the fire department of Niagara Falls, N. Y., to fill the vacancy caused by the recent death of Chief R. D. Miller.
Mr. Wood joined the volunteer force as a member of Active Hose Co. No. 6 in 1892. When the paid fire department was instituted in 1894, he became a member of the regular force. He was promoted to assistant chief June 4, 1901, and made acting chief December 9, 1928, when the late Chief Miller was granted a leave of absence because of ill health.
Chief Wood is a member of the Spanish War Veterans and the Exempt Firemen’s Association. He is fifty-eight years old.
