GOLF TOURNAMENT PLANS OUT FOR DETROIT A.W.W.A. CONVENTION
The increasing popularity of golf at the water works conventions will lend particular interest to the following announcement of the 1923 committee:
Delegates to the Detroit convention who wish to play golf are requested to leave their names, with their home club handicaps or their three best scores, at the Statler registration booth on Monday when they register.
The convention tournament will be held at the famous Oakland Hills Country Club, one of the finest courses in the country. The qualifying round, medal play, will he played Tuesday morning. May 22, the first and second eights qualifying for the first round Tuesday afternoon.
The semi-finals in each eight will he played Wednesday morning and the finals either Wednesday afternoon or later at the option of the players, so as not to conflict with the convention boat ride Wednesday afternoon.
Prizes: The finest ever put up at an A. W. W. A. golf tournament, have been provided for the winners and runners-up of both eights and for the winners of low gross and low net.
Golf privileges have also been secured at the Detroit Country Club and other well-known courses around Detroit, but the convention tournament will be confined to Oakland Hills. Transportation will be provided. For further information communicate with the committee.
