“Graft Line”

Under the above title, a very interesting story by Karl Detzer, built around the purchase of inferior fire hose appears in the January 13, 1934, issue of “The Saturday Evening Post.” The story demonstrates quite convincingly the danger of buying cheaply built hose.

Chief Ray Tiller, of Waterloo, Ia., recently completed fourteen years as head of the department and twenty-five years as a member of the service. He entered the department in 1908, when he was but eighteen years old. When he was promoted to Chief, he was twenty-nine years old.
