H. J. Stevens, Hull, Dead
Henry J, Stevens, Commissioner of Public Safety of Hull, Mass., died of a heart ailment at his home at the age of fifty-one.
He was the town’s first motorcycle officer and served as an officer in the Police Department.
In 1917, he became Chief of the Fire Department, when a strike among the personnel created a property hazard. In 1929, he was made Commissioner of Public Safety. He was a member of the Massachusetts Fire Chiefs Club and the New England Association of Fire Chiefs. Mr. Stevens was born in Nantasket. He is survived by his widow, two daughters, three sons and a sister.
