Held for Arson at Oneonta, N. Y.

Mary Abounader and Moses Koury, Assyrians, arc in the custody of local police officers of Oneonta, N. Y., charged with arson, in connection with the fire which nearly destroyed the Farrington block in Broad street and threatened the lives of at least a dozen people the night of last Easter. Since the fire Chief Crotty of the fire department has been making a searching inquiry of the incidents connected with the blaze, and sufficient evidence has been obtained to arrest Koury and Miss Abounader, the police and fire officials say. Koury and Miss Abounader were occupants of the building when it burned. The man and woman conducted a fruit stand and store in the block at the time of the fire, and carried $600 insurance on their stock, $300 on fixtures and $400 on furniture. Their loss was adjusted at $853. but payment by the insurance company has been deferred on the advice of Chief Crotty.
