Helicopter Ferries Firemen

Helicopter Ferries Firemen

Recently New York firemen were fighting a brush fire on Staten Island when a passing helicopter spotted another fire nearby. Captain Johnson, commander of the U. S. Coast Guard ’copter, realized that the firemen could not reach the blaze because of intervening creeks and marshes.

He landed near the site of the first fire to provide ferry service and in four flights carried eight firemen and their equipment to the scene.
