Honor to Dead Firemen
High officials of the Philadelphia, Pa., Department of Public Safety, members of the Union Republican Club, and a detail of fire fighters, on August 12 last, attended the funeral of Joseph Mahey, the fireman who died of injuries sustained at the fire which destroyed the plant of the Union Petroleum Co., Water and Mifflin streets, in that city on August 9.
Director Porter. Fire Commissioner ‘Baxter and Acting Fire Chief Meskill viewed the body at the home. The entire membership of Engine Company No. 32, Sixth and Locust streets, and representatives of every other company in the city, marched to the church with draped badges and white gloves.
