Hote Coupling Contest at Gloucester.

Nearly 2,000 persons assembled in Gloucester, Mass., a few evenings since to witness a hose coupling contest by the Gloucester Firemen’s Relief Association. Fifteen teams entered the contest. Hinckley and Hilton, of Gloucester, tied with Kerrigan and Hammond, of hose No. 1, Woburn, in 18 seconds. The following are the results of the competition: Hinckley and Hilton, Gloucester, 18 seconds; Kerrigan and Hammond, Woburn, 18 seconds; Kempton and Osborne, hose No. 2, Stoneham, 18 2-5; Gavichettc and Adams, hose No. 2, Melrose, 18 4-5; Mason and Parsons, engine No. 2, Rockport, 19; Winchester and Batchclder, engine No. 1, Peabody, 19; Simonds and Gowing, engine No. 5, Woburn, 19 4-5; Policy and Wayneham, hose No. 1, Manchester, 201-5; Stanley and Plummer, hose No. 4, Beverly, 22 2-5; McNeil and Kcrwin, hose No. 5, Peabody, 24 ; Gay and Cook, hose No. 2, Arlington, 24 2-5; Sheppard and Yaddit, hose No. 2, Ipswich, 25 2-5; Pye and Vanston, hook and ladder No. 1, Stoughton, 26 1-5; Chavis and Mann, hose No. Stoughton, 28; Shephard and Smith, Ipswich, 28 3-5.
