Humpday Hangout: Focus on the Fireground

Fire Engineering Editor in Chief Bobby Halton turns the reins over to Mike Dugan, who speaks this week with Dan Shaw of Traditions Training and Sacramento (CA) Battalion Chief Chris Costamagna. They discuss how SOGs can bring order to the fireground, a recent close call at a fire in Sacramento, and more.

MICHAEL M. DUGAN is a 27-year veteran of the Fire Department of New York, where he served as captain of Ladder Company 123 before retiring in 2012. As a lieutenant, he served in Ladder Company 42 and was a firefighter in Ladder Company 43. He has been involved with the fire service for 39 years.

DANIEL D. SHAW, a member of the fire service since 1992, is a captain with the Fairfax County (VA) Fire & Rescue Department. He is a vice president of Traditions Training LLC, cohosts a monthly podcast on Fire Engineering Talk Radio, and coauthored 25 to Survive: Reducing Residential Injury and LODD.

CHRIS COSTAMAGNA is a battalion chief with the Special Operations Divison of the Sacramento (CA) Fire Department.
