IAFF Announces Media Awards

First prize winners in the International Association of Fire Fighters’ 1976 International Awards Contest were articles in the Bristol, Conn., Press and the Philadelphia Inquirer; photos in the Lincoln, Neb., Journal-Star and the Boston Herald American; a documentary series on television station WHFC-TV, Rochester, N.Y.; and a commentary on radio station KOOL, Phoenix, Ariz.

The winners were chosen by independent judges from entries submitted by local IAFF unions all over the United States and Canada. The annual contest awards first prizes of $500 and a plaque; second prize of $250 and a certificate; honorable mention certificates; and such other commendations as the judges may assign.

The judges voted a letter of commendation to Cleveland Fire Fighter John P. McNea for his account of life as a member of that city’s Rescue Squad 1, which was published in Cleveland Magazine.
