ICC Member, ICC-ES Accept WSSPC Awards

Ron Lynn, Director/Building Official for the Clark County, Nev., Department of Development Services and a past International Code Council (ICC) President and Shahin Moinian, P.E., President, ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) attended the Western States Seismic Policy Council (WSSPC) Awards Luncheon held July 21 in Anchorage, Alaska, where they were honored as award recipients.
Lynn received one of only two WSSPC 2014 Lifetime Achievement Awards in Earthquake Risk Reduction. Moinian accepted the WSSPC 2014 Non-Profit Agency Efforts Award in Excellence for recognition of the ICC-ES Evaluation Report Program.
“WSSPC recognized the ICC-ES Evaluation Report program as a valuable tool for those involved in the development process to find safe and effective seismic materials and designs to support public safety in the built environment,” said ICC-ES President, Shahin Moinian, P.E. “It is with great pride, on behalf of our entire organization, that I accept this award.”
“Our association’s primary focus is public safety in the built environment,” said ICC CEO Dominic Sims, CBO. “These awards reinforce the level of dedication, ICC members, ICC-ES customers, building professionals and ICC staff have. As a team we are all working to mitigate seismic events and create more resilient construction practices.”
“The recognition of Ron Lynn, who is well known as a champion of earthquake safety, reflects his professional commitment to public safety and building resilient structures to codes and standards to minimize the impact of earthquakes. The ICC-ES Evaluation Report program recognition emphasizes the integrity and technical expertise of the reports and technical staff who create them,” said Stephen D. Jones, CBO, President of the ICC Board of Directors.
The WSSPC Awards in Excellence program started in 1996 to recognize achievement in different areas of earthquake mitigation, preparedness and response. Summaries of the 2014 winning programs and projects are posted on the Western States Seismic Policy Council’s website at www.wsspc.org.
