The 1969 convention of the International Fire Buff Associates will be hosted by the Anne Arundle Alarmers Association of Maryland at a time and place yet to be chosen, it has been announced by the new president of the IFBA, John Hruska of Ferndale, Glen Bumie, Md., a member of the Alarmers.
Other officers elected at the IFBA convention at the Sherman House in Chicago July 18-20 included the following vice presidents: Region 1, Richard Wexler, Boston Sparks; Region 2, Bernard Grandjany, Third Alarm Association, New York City, Region 3, Charles Price, Box 414 Association, Baltimore; Region 4, Jack Monahan, Second Alarm Fire Buffs, Indianapolis; Region 5, Sidney Quinn, Box 4 Buff Association, Dallas; Region 6, Henry Wilwers, 5-11 Club, Chicago; Region 7, Sam Friedman, Phoenix Society, San Francisco. William Brennan of the Signal 22 Association, Trenton, N.J., was reelected secretary, and Edward Massmann of the Bell & Siren Club, Newark, N. J., was again named treasurer. Al Burch of the Detroit Fire Buffs Association was reappointed executive vice president, and Stuart Gootnick of the 5-11 Club, Chicago, was named publicity director.
Chief Fire Marshal Curtis Volkamer of Chicago welcomed the delegates at the Saturday business session and addressed the group at the annual dinner that night. Workshop sessions discussed fund raising, museums, canteens and awards.
