Importance of Brake Adjustment
Brake adjustment is one of the most important adjustments of the motor apparatus. It is vitally important that both brakes should take hold with equal effort, a condition that reduces the chances of skidding. Also the driver must be taught in applying the brakes to do so intermittently; first on, then off, then on again. This is the way the locomotive engineer does with his rail-bed vehicle and the lesson is valuable on the road. While the brakes are being applied the clutch should be engaged.
