Improvement in Soda and Acid Extinguishers

Improved Fire Extinguisher

A plan for preventing the water in a 244-gallon soda and acid extinguisher from slopping over into the acid container,

thereby weakening the charge, has recently been devised by the engineers of the Pyrene Manufacturing Company. The acid bottle in the extinguisher is protected by a special stopper shaped like an inverted cup, and the outlet is covered by a baffle plate. This prevents slopping, no matter how severely the extinguisher is shaken up by the vehicle to which it is attached. The advantage is readily to be seen, especially where fire apparatus is compelled to travel over rough roads at high speed in answering alarms. The new device is approved by the Underwriters’ Laboratories.
