Improvements Made at Columbus

Chief Edward P. Welch, of the Columbus, Ohio, Fire Department, has made a number of improvements. A drill school has been established, examinations are held regularly, and a squad wagon has been recently added.

The equipment on this new unit consists of oxygen masks, rubber suits, an acetylene torch, life nets, fifty tarpaulins, stretchers, inhalator, smoke masks, rubber pads, gloves and tools for cutting high tension wires, brooms and first aid kits. Members of the company have been extensively trained in life saving work.
