Inspectors Recommend Increase in Force
Inspectors from the New England Insurance Exchange were in Peabody, Mass., recently, to make investigations of the water and fire departments. A report has been received and if their recommendations are carried out it is estimated that it would cost the city $100,000. In regard to the water supply, mains from 6 to 20-inch are suggested. For the fire department they suggest that the chief and deputy be made permanent, and 13 more men appointed. They would have all stations motorized and hose tested at 200 pounds.
