Keystone Chiefs Meet

More than 300 fire chiefs from all parts of Pennsylvania attended the annual convention -of the Keystone State Fire Chiefs Association Nov. 14, last, in Hyde Park, Pa.

The chiefs were welcomed to Berks County by Howard Powell, vice president of the host company, and Manlon Bitner, Muhlenberg Township Supervisor.

Delegates participated in the business and educational sessions while the ladies were taken on a tour of the Reading Museum and Art Gallery. Battalion Chief Jose Meshkill. director of the Philadelphia Fire School, told about training of firemen in the Quaker City.

The convention closed with a banquet highlighted by an impressive memorial service for deceased members of the Association, the services being conducted by Rev. Dr. Charles E. Roth, chaplain of the Reading hire Department.

The guest speaker at the banquet was the Rev. Frank W. Ruth of Bernville, chaplain of the State Firemen’s Association.

The new officers of the Association, which now numbers over 600, are: Stanley T. Moyer, Hyde Park, president; Leonard Roberts, of Trevose, first vice president; Charles B. Kimmel of Canadensis, second vice president; Lewis Atkinson of Malvery, recording secretary; Joseph Johnson of Lynnwood, financial secretary; George Lee of Royersford, treasurer, and, directors, Michael Binder, Downington and Earl Longstreth, Glen Mills. Joseph Wagner was elected delegate to the State Firemen’s Association and Joseph Johnson will represent the Keystone group at the International Association of Fire Chiefs Convention.
