Killed by Fall from Ladder
Frank Waski, a 27-year-old Norwich, Conn., fireman plunged 35 feet to his death from atop a metal aerial ladder on February 15 while fighting a tenement fire at 114 North Thames street.
Fireman Waski lost his balance when the ladder touched an overhead power line, according to eye-witnesses. An autopsy showed he died as the result of a head injury suffered in the fall, ruling out the possibility he was electrocuted.
Waski had been a member of the Department for about three years. He is survived by his wife. The tenement blaze, which was confined to an attic, was one of nine calls the Norwich Fire Department answered that day.
