Kynol Now “Novoloid”

The Federal Trade Commission has established the generic name “Novoloid” to cover the fiber Kynol manufactured by The Carborundum Company. The new classification became effective February 15.

In granting the generic name Novoloid, the commission found that this fiber is not covered by any existing generic definition and that Carborundum has demonstrated it is a useful and practical fiber which it is currently producing and marketing.

Material in the public record shows that Novoloid has great resistance to heat and flame, being unfusible and nonflammable, that it is also substantially unaffected by many acids and that it is insoluble in organic solvents.
