Lebanon Department Motorized
The city of Lebanon, Pa., has a thoroughly up-to-date fire department under the highly efficient management of Chief F. W. McAdam. It has five pumping engines, two of which are triple combinations and three are steam engines, motor propelled. Five combination trucks are all motor propelled but one, and a ladder truck of the latest motor type. All the companies arc supplied with hose, extinguishers and all fire fighting tools. This equipment is unusually extensive for a city of 20,000. In a recent issue, a typographical error made an item regarding lack of protection in a town of the same name but in another state, read Lebanon, Pa., which was obviously a mistake.
The council of Canton, O., is discussing the possible avenue of retrenchment in expenditures and may order reduction in city departments. Safety Director Hamaker states that no reduction in the fire department is under consideration as the council insists that it shall be kept at full strength.
