LONDON vs. PARIS.

LONDON vs. PARIS.

Sir L. Lepine, prefect of the police of Paris, France, says that the French metropolis has nothing that can be compared to the London salvage corps, whose working he considers to be simply marvelous. He says: “One would think the salvage men were burglars to see the lightning rapidity with which they remove valuables from a house on fire—pictures, furniture, everything that could be saved. In Paris we flood the whole house and its contents with water, and thus cause enormous damage. L cannot understand why the French insurance companies have not some organisation similar to that which I saw in London.”
