Lorain Pay Day Passes
The fire department of Lorain, Ohio, recently had the grievous experience of seeing the municipal pay day pass without bringing their pay. Salaries were paid, it is true, the next day; but the pay envelope was accompanied by a warning to “Go slow” with its contents, as the safety department funds were completely exhausted. Unless the city government can contrive some means for replenishing the empty treasury of the safety department before next pay day the delay is likely to be considerably longer, it is said. It takes $6,000 to fill the envelopes for the safety department.
