Losses and Fires Up in British Columbia

There were 173 more fires in British Columbia in 1952 than in 1951 and fire losses increased $998,805 for the period. W. A. Walker, Fire Marshal for the Province, in his 31st Annual Report attributes some of this increase to the Doukhobor arson disturbances which have plagued the Province for some time.

Total fire loss for the year was $9,603,231. Fifty people met death by fire during the year.
